Best character to do this with is a Necro, and make the secondary Ranger (for Charm Animal)

Equipment wise, you want a normal set of armour, and a 105hp set of armour.. that's any armour with Superior Runes on all the pieces.  Most Necros should have this already (for 1hp BiP).
Weapons, can be any you like but you'll need 2 sets.

1) Normal set, (if you have the -50 Grim Cesta use it, if not it's only an extra death for ya Smile )
2) Vampiric Weapon << Very Important, doesn't matter if it's max or not, just so long as it has the -1 health.

Your bar is fairly simple..  




Blood is Power
Charm Animal


Notice I said YOUR bar.. animals do not gain XP from hero deaths, YOU have to be the XP giver, just make sure you have R3 Survivor BEFORE you do this Smile

Add to your party the two Mesmer Hero's
Set them both to be Me/Mo's

Their attributes should be Maxed Fast Casting, Max out Inspiration, and put what's left into Healing Prayers.

Both Mesmers skill bars should be

Resurrect
Ether Signet
Resurrection Chant

Disable the Rez Chant, and set both heroes to AVOID.

Now map into the Menagerie.  I should point out that this will NOT level the Rainbow Pheonix, as it doesn't spawn in the grounds if you have a hero in your party.
Go around the grounds until you find the animal you want to level.  There should be two of each animal (and some non-targetable offspring).

Attack and kill one of the two animals.  This will turn the other animal red, but it will not attack you.

Now, Use BiP until you die... the mesmers should have you up again in about 3 seconds
Use BiP again. and again until you get to -60 dp

Now equip your 105 armour set, and your health will drop to 1hp.

Flag the heroes a reasonable distance so that they both cover you.
and now the finale... Equip the vampiric weapon..

Blam!! you'll die..  to be rez'd by the heroes, only to die again..  the whole chain is about 4 seconds (ish)
After a couple of minutes the remaining animal will level up to lvl 6.  All you have to do is wait, and make sure that the animal doesn't wander outside of aggro range.

After about 30 minutes, you'll have a lvl 20 animal.

Disable all skills on the heroes, and have them manually use Resurrection Chant on you... you have about 1/2 a second to swap to your other weapon set.
Now put back on your normal armour and charm the now level 20 pet...
